So new anime have started up the past few weeks, I've checked out a few but not them all. I'll mention them in alphabetical order...

Ao no Exorcist (Blue Exorcist) - I've started reading the manga a few days before the anime started since I've heard good things about it and people were hyping about the anime soooo yeah, almost caught up. The anime only just aired so there's only one episode out but from just this episode I can tell it's going to be a good one... hopefully 8P It's slightly different from the beginning of the manga but I think that was a wise choice considering how the manga starts off and how long the chapters are since its being published in Jump SQ.

The OP is Uverworld which is always a plus (though it didn't come on for the first episode so I haven't heard it) and the ED is 2PM which a lot of people are thinking is weird but I'm not complaining since I like the song 8P and the animation for the ED, though kinda boring it's also interesting at the same time... that doesn't make sense but if you see it maybe you'll understand.

The cast from what I've seen is excellent, we've got Okamoto Nobuhiko as Rin, our main character, who has done quite a few important roles but the one coming to mind right now is Niizuma Eiji (Bakuman) though that's not a very good example since that character is rather eccentric lol. Yukio is played by Fukuyama Jun which though I am happy to hear since I love him, is a little bit of a disappointment since I prefer him in more eccentric character roles. Fujiwara Keiji, Nakai Kazuya, and Hanazawa Kana are all in it as well, all people I really like. BUT BUT BUT Kamiya Hiroshi is in it too and he's going to play Mephisto which is <3333 ah man I can't wait till he appears in the next episode 8D When I first heard of the anime coming out I wasn't really paying attention to the cast so this is a lovely surprise <3

Overall I expect good things from this anime and I recomend it, especially to people who liked D.Gray-man, it's got a similar feel to it IMO.

Deadman Wonderland - I knew about the manga before the anime announcement but I never read it (even though its on my "list" to read) so my review can only cover the anime strictly by itself. If anyone who has read the manga want to put their 2 cents in be my guest 8) ANYWAY only 1 episode has come out but it was definitely really interesting and caught my attention. The story itself so far seems pretty unique without being something completely different.

Paku Romi is our main character, Ganta which I think is a nice fit. She's the seiyuu behind Hitsugaya (BLEACH) and Kenshin (Sengoku BASARA). Hanazawa Kana makes another appearance in this anime as Shiro so yay 8B Kaji Yuki and Suwabe Junichi are also cast but since I'm not familiar with the characters I can't say much about their roles.

This anime seems a bit dark which appeals to me so I'm definitely going to keep watching. I'd recommend this as well but I feel a bit weird saying that about an anime that only has one episode and I haven't read the manga... oh well 8P

Sekai-Ichi Hatsukoi - Sooo if you don't like yaoi/shonen-ai you should just skip this review lol. Nakamura-sensei is the original manga-ka, the woman behind Junjou Romantica. If you liked Junjou then you NEED to watch this. 2 episodes and an OVA have come out for this so far, I'm not quite sure how long this anime is going to run but probably not very long if Junjou Romantica's run is an indicator. I have only read a small amount of the manga but so far the anime and manga are pretty close. The OVA confused me a bit since it starts off in the past and I was all LAWL WHUT IS THIS THE WRONG ANIME? but that OVA was all kinds of cute. I highly recommend this to yaoi/shonen-ai fans.

Our seiyuu in this one is Kondo Takashi who is the seiyuu for Hibari/Fon/Alaude (KHR!) and Train (Black Cat), he plays our uke, Onodera, which is a good choice if I say so myself. Our seme, Takano, is played by Konishi Katsuyuki who plays Oga (Beelzebub) and America (Hetalia). As a fan of his this pleases me 8D Okamoto Nobuhiko (if you're still with me I already mentioned him, he's playing Rin in Ao no Exorcist), Tachibana Shinnosuke, Nakamura Yuuichi, Midorikawa Hikaru, Horiuchi Kenyuu, Morikawa Toshiyuki, and Kamiya Hiroshi (YEY) are all in it as well. I have to say most of these men are <333 so with the cast alone I am pleased.

I already said I recommend it to people who are fans of the genre... with that said, if you're not... I don't recommend this lol xD

Sket Dance - I have not read the manga but from what I've heard from people who have read the manga, the anime is great so far so cool beans. This one is a slice of life comedy so its kind of hard not to find it enjoyable. The episodes I've seen had me L-O-L-ing which I give a lot of credit to the characters. I'm a big fan of anime/manga that have characters that really move the story and I think this is one of them since the setting is really rather ordinary.

We have three main characters for this one, the leader Bossun is played by Yoshino Hiroyuki who has played Firo (BACCANO!) and Kidou (Inazuma Eleven), a perfect fit for Bossun IMO 8) Shiraishi Ryoko is Himeko, she's also the seiyuu of Nagase (Negima!?) and Sumiyoshi (Nyan Koi). I'm not very familiar with her but I think she sounds pretty good for a girl like Himeko. And lastly, but certainly not least is Sugita Tomokazu as Switch. I'm a big fan of Sugita, he's played Gintoki (Gintama), Kyon (Haruhi Suzumiya), and many others so I'm really pleased especially since I think Switch is such an awesome character.

I recommend this to people who want a good laugh. It's fun and the characters are pretty interesting to make up for the ordinary school life setting.

Steins;Gate - To be honest I have no idea what's going on in this anime. But I like it. This anime is originally a game which was then given I think two manga adaptions and then an anime. I've watched the first 2 episodes, I'll watch the 3rd that just came out later tonight I think. I don't think I can even explain what this series is about I'm so confused... I'm tempted to ask other people to explain it to me lol xD

The main character, Okabe Rintaro (or is it Houuin Kyouma?) is played by Miyano Mamoru which I'm sure many of you know for his roles as Tamaki (Ouran), Kida (Durarara!!), and many more. I really like this guy so far, his CRAZY is appealing to me especially since I'm not entirely certain if he is in fact crazy or not. I always was attracted to those mad scientist characters 8P There are quite a few female characters (from what I can tell from the OP) I don't know many of the seiyuu but Hanazawa Kana makes her third appearance in my review which I'm not complaining about since I like her.

I can't say I recommend this to everyone... because I don't. If you like intricate plots that seem really confusing, then you'll like this. I like being confused like this because it makes me want to know more so I keep watching. And with a main character like Okabe (Houuin Kyouma?) I'm definitely drawn in. Also there's a trap and he's adorable, I know how some of you love traps 8P

Toriko - I have definitely been anticipating this one. I have only read very little of the manga (shame on me!) but from what I've read this series is amazing. The humor in this series is a bit crude but what do you expect from a typical shounen manga? It's got similarities with One Piece (which is in part why they had a crossover episode) and you all know I fucking LOVE One Piece. I have only watched the crossover episode and the first episode of the series by itself but a 2nd episode has come out (people are confusing though and are calling it the 3rd since they're making the crossover episode the 1st one.... ugh so confusing!). I feel like the level of crude comedy is much less in the anime, which is understandable since it's being aired on TV but still 8<

Toriko is voiced by Okiayu Ryoutarou who also plays Byakuya (BLEACH) and Hideyoshi (Sengoku BASARA). He's a cool guy so I expect good things from him. Paku Romi takes another lead role as Komatsu, Toriko's chef companion. I haven't looked in depth at the cast but Sakurai Takahiro and Mizuki Nana are in it so yey 8B

Fans of One Piece should watch/read this... also people who love food, definitely if you love food.

X-Men - LOL X-MEN ANIME it's probably to go with the other comic anime that have come out recently. I personally didn't watch the Iron Man anime and I watched some of the Wolverine one but I ended up getting bored so I stopped >3> I'm a fan of X-Men so I decided to pick this one up in hopes that it wouldn't bore me like the Wolverine one did. So far I have been enjoying it so hopefully it'll stay that way. Since I don't read the comics I don't know how exactly they're working this out unlike some people *stares at Cesar*. One thing that I must note that bothered me is Storm. I like Storm and I think they animated her in a very beautiful way which is fine.... but they're making her look REALLY weak and it bothers me 8| it's a sexist issue, I see it clear as day so it bothers me... oh well 8/

The only seiyuu I recognized immediately was Morikawa Toshiyuki who plays Cyclops. I'll be honest, I liked Cyclops before but after hearing him with Morikawa's voice.... I like him a lot more >///> Morikawa is the seiyuu behind Kojuurou (Sengoku BASARA), Sephiroth (Final Fantasy), and many other roles including Dante (Devil May Cry) hnnnng FAN DESU <3 I probably know the other seiyuu but I'm too lazy to look them up orz

I dunno if I recommend this... I guess what I'll say is to check it out if you like X-Men.

Yondemasu yo, Azazel-san - The last one! This anime is pretty graphic but it's portrayed in a crude humor way rather than being dark like other anime that are graphic in this sense. Each episode is only about 12 minutes long, the same as the Starry Sky anime. Though it's sad that it's short, this could appeal to people who have short attention spans.... like my brother 8| lol

There are a few seiyuu in this that I rather like so yey 8B The main demon/devil whatever is Azazel who is played by Onosaka Masaya who is the seiyuu of France (Hetalia) and Vash (Trigun). He's a bit of a perv so he fits this role pretty well xD. Namikawa Daisuke, Kamiya Hiroshi (8DD), and Nakai Kazuya and also some notable seiyuu.

I recommend this to people who like crude/graphic humor. This is definitely not a show to watch with little kids or people who don't like to see blood. It's not bloody like Higurashi but there's still quite a bit.

Alright I know there are a bunch of other anime that have come out for this spring but I didn't watch them. I'm thinking of trying out a few of the others but if anyone recommends one in particular let me know! I know I didn't really talk about what these anime are about but I'm kinda bad at giving brief summaries so I skipped it 8P Lets see if I can give one sentence summaries for them before I end this post....

Ao no Exorcist - Satan's son wants to become an exorcist to defeat Satan.
Deadman Wonderland - An innocent Ganta is sent to strange prison for murdering his entire class
Sekai-Ichi Hatsukoi - GAY
Sket Dance - Kids have club where they do crazy shit
Steins;Gate - IDK
Toriko - Gourmet Hunter kills shit and eats it
Azazel-san - Devils used to solve detective cases

OK so those aren't the best summaries but I'm lazy.

You can always tell when a shonen series is illustrated by a woman, the character designs just have a certain pretty-ness to them.

Yay! X-Men Anime!!...lol....yes, I'm geeking out at seeing some stuff from the comics (like the Japanese girl is really a character from the comics for example). And agree on Storm...either she is infected by something or I dunno...she was the leader of the X-Men during most of the 80's!!!!

Ah I didn't know that, that thought she was just some girl they added for the anime. coooool 8B

She didn't appear to be sick... she just all of a sudden is all OH NOES I CANNOT DO THIS. And the guys are like STORM, YOU AREN'T STRONG ENOUGH, DO WOMAN THINGS. 8| ugh well I can only hope it doesn't continue on like this. We'll seeeeee

The reminds me, in the Wolverine anime I kept hearing them saying "I didn't expect to see mutants here" while in Japan and I was just kinda like... umm... why can't Japan have mutants too? It was something that really threw me off for some reason lol Is there a reason for that that I'm not getting or is that just stupid-speak? herpderp
czor on April 21st, 2011 01:49 pm (UTC)
Stupid speak...out of my head I can name (and I only slept 4 hours as I write this) 4 Japanese mutants from the comics....well obviously it seems both series to be in different times/universes (obvious point is how Logan looks).
After all in the comics..between the 60's all the way to early 90's there were at least mentioned to be some hundreds if not almost a million mutants in the Marvel Universe...after the 90's the number jumped to millions (and then decreased to a whopping less than 300 in current continuity).

And that was my geeky knowledge..lol =P
